Remember how I said that if you weren't planning on watching any of these shows, at least watch Flash vs. Arrow? Well...I lied. Granted at that time I didn't know that I was lying but the point still stands. You need to watch both episodes of this crossover because they were both gold.
The only thing that was better in The Brave and The Bold was the fact that there was an actual collaboration in the episode. Viewers actually got to see Flash and Arrow taking down bad guys. We saw how speed and archery worked together and it was kind of funny how Flash would steal Arrow's thunder by speed-tying everyone up before he even got there and basically doing everything before Arrow got the chance to. Poor kid. Flash's arrogance was really showing in this episode. xD
The Flash and Arrow as shows have very different atmospheres. While the former is more upbeat and takes a more comical approach, the latter tends to be more serious and dark so it's no surprise that this episode, being centered around Arrow, hit me in the feels. Oliver's flashbacks are still going on and this time we were taken to his moments in Tokyo, his first encounter with A.R.G.U.S. Amanda Waller - who, by the way, looks drastically different than her comic version - basically treated Olie like a lap dog and expected him to carry out all her bidding. But when she asked him to torture this bomber to find out where he hid the bomb, Oliver couldn't do it. He has too much humanity but what really got me was that she said "torture is a skill." Torture is a skill. Let's reevaluate that statement. A skill? This isn't something you would put on your resumes and college apps. It's not a technique people aspire to acquire and if it is they are just downright sick. Her argument was that there are people in the world who cannot be reasoned with and going to the extremes is the only solution. Now that may be true but she can't be stripping Oliver of his humanity like that. And what's worse is that she said he had the capacity to be extremely good at it. You don't tell someone that they'd be great at torture. Now that he's back in Starling City being The Arrow, he still believes that he's some type of monster and he believes he's losing Oliver Queen and just becoming the arrow. Barry tried to knock some sense into him though. I guess it worked. I said it already but I'll say it again, their relationship is adorable.
The thing is...we still don't know who would win. CW got a kick out of beginning another fight in the last few seconds and then immediately cutting it off. I liked how it ended though. Alas, no more crossovers for the rest of the season but it's better this way because The Flash is going in a completely different direction. Barry still has to grow so much and learn more about his powers, gah! I can't wait to see how the writers are going to fit it all in.
This is just one piece of proof showing how brilliant these teams of writers and producers are:
Peace, love and DC! x
I watched the show the other day at my friend's house. It seemed pretty neat. I watched the episode where he loses his power and gets it back. Wait nevermind That's just flash. I think your blog is pretty cool because I get excited about certain tv shows too. How did you get your background to be like that?
ReplyDeleteThanks! You just go to settings, then template then customize and you can change the background.
DeleteWow. Now I'm going to have to start watching Arrow. I've been watching the Flash for a while now, but I've been on the fence about its writing. The writing does sound pretty stellar for both characters though, so I'll give it a shot.
ReplyDeleteYea, I think they are portraying the characters really well. But if you're gonna start Arrow, better get on that. It's in the middle of its third season.
DeleteLove that sign off,
ReplyDeleteQuestion: what would your superhero name be?
This is a very interesting blog. Flash is one of my favorite super hero's and I don't know why Flash would team up with arrow because arrow dosen't really have power. I'd like to see jumper and storm team up because that would be an ultimate duo. A teleporter and someone who can control weather.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Flash is my favorite too. But hey Arrow has agility and intelligence okay and they're actually a great team. I know that Nightcrawler can teleport and he and Storm are both on X-Men so they have worked together before. I literally love the X-Men. Unless you're talking about someone else...I'm not sure who jumper is...
