Have a Holly Jolly Finale (Or Not)

Well, this is awkward. It's been about two weeks since the mid-season finales of Flash and Arrow aired and I'm just now getting to talking about them. My apologies but there's this thing called school and it sometimes gets in the way of important things. Flash didn't leave off with as much as a cliffhanger as Arrow did which is why I'm just going to breeze over Flash then get down to business (to defeat the Huns!) Just kidding.

FLASH - The Man in the Yellow Suit
I knew it. I just knew it. There was much anticipation for this episode, not only because it was the season finale but because we were finally going to figure out who Reverse Flash is. Firestorm was in it too but no one cares about him right now, except for Caitlin. The final scene showed Dr. Wells opens a compartment in his secret lair that holds in it the infamous yellow suit to which I presently yelled, "I knew it!" Of course it all makes sense. He obviously has some connection to the time-space continuum and he is going through great lengths to make Flash reach his full potential. At the same time, he might not be the Reverse Flash everyone is thinking of (seeing as there are two Reverse Flashes). There's an article on Fashion & Style (Don't know what this has to do with fashion but let's go with it) that explicitly lists all the reasons Dr. Wells might not be the evil It's-my-life's-destiny-to-defeat-Flash Reverse Flash. There's really no telling what CW is planning and I adore their unpredictability. Speaking of all things unexpected. . .

ARROW - The Climb
He's not dead. Yes, Ollie got stabbed straight through the chest and yes, he did fall off the edge of the cliff but we didn't see him hit the ground. He probably landed on some really soft snow or maybe the fall wasn't that long and he's going to concoct some island remedy Shado taught him; you know anything's possible. All I know is that he's not dead, he's the main character for goodness sake. I mean what would they do, turn the show into Arsenal? Anyway, plot twist: Thea killed Sara. That's not crazy? It's not overall scandalous because she was induced with something that made her "extremely open to suggestion". She has no recollection of what she did and Merlyn planned it all out perfectly just so he could get off of the League of Assassins's radar. Of course he never really loved Thea. I swear some people are just wicked.

To lighten up the mood, there was a huge Olicity moment. Oliver told Felicity that he loves her finally. And also, Ray is The Atom! Starling City is about to have their very own Robocop. I'm really excited to see this development and also curious as to how they are going to incorporate the whole miniaturizing thing. It seems fit that Ray will eventually join Team Arrow. What I really do not want fostering into existence is a love triangle between Ray, Felicity and Oliver. That would be so insufferable and pointless because Olicity is already canon.

As with all of Arrow's mid-season finales, there were a lot of intensified conflicts and teasers and now all us viewers have to wait until next year to find out what's going to happen! All the shows always go on their own christmas break until January. It's like they want us to spend time with our families for a change instead of being the couch potatoes we've been all year. Doesn't really work.

Writing this post while watching the Doctor Who Christmas Special has proved to be very difficult but I've made it through. I hope everything I said made grammatical and literary sense. Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight!

The Brave and The Bold (Flash Vs. Arrow: Part 2)

Remember how I said that if you weren't planning on watching any of these shows, at least watch Flash vs. Arrow? Well...I lied. Granted at that time I didn't know that I was lying but the point still stands. You need to watch both episodes of this crossover because they were both gold.

The only thing that was better in The Brave and The Bold was the fact that there was an actual collaboration in the episode. Viewers actually got to see Flash and Arrow taking down bad guys. We saw how speed and archery worked together and it was kind of funny how Flash would steal Arrow's thunder by speed-tying everyone up before he even got there and basically doing everything before Arrow got the chance to. Poor kid. Flash's arrogance was really showing in this episode. xD

The Flash and Arrow as shows have very different atmospheres. While the former is more upbeat and takes a more comical approach, the latter tends to be more serious and dark so it's no surprise that this episode, being centered around Arrow, hit me in the feels. Oliver's flashbacks are still going on and this time we were taken to his moments in Tokyo, his first encounter with A.R.G.U.S. Amanda Waller - who, by the way, looks drastically different than her comic version - basically treated Olie like a lap dog and expected him to carry out all her bidding. But when she asked him to torture this bomber to find out where he hid the bomb, Oliver couldn't do it. He has too much humanity but what really got me was that she said "torture is a skill." Torture is a skill. Let's reevaluate that statement. A skill? This isn't something you would put on your resumes and college apps. It's not a technique people aspire to acquire and if it is they are just downright sick. Her argument was that there are people in the world who cannot be reasoned with and going to the extremes is the only solution. Now that may be true but she can't be stripping Oliver of his humanity like that. And what's worse is that she said he had the capacity to be extremely good at it. You don't tell someone that they'd be great at torture. Now that he's back in Starling City being The Arrow, he still believes that he's some type of monster and he believes he's losing Oliver Queen and just becoming the arrow. Barry tried to knock some sense into him though. I guess it worked. I said it already but I'll say it again, their relationship is adorable.

The thing is...we still don't know who would win. CW got a kick out of beginning another fight in the last few seconds and then immediately cutting it off. I liked how it ended though. Alas, no more crossovers for the rest of the season but it's better this way because The Flash is going in a completely different direction. Barry still has to grow so much and learn more about his powers, gah! I can't wait to see how the writers are going to fit it all in.

This is just one piece of proof showing how brilliant these teams of writers and producers are:

Peace, love and DC! x

Lovecraft

In the most recent episode titled "Lovecraft", some hit men, lead by a rather flexible woman, come after Catwoman (hereinafter referred to as 'Cat'), who happens to be staying at the Wayne household. In these scenes, we see that Alfred can clearly defend himself to a great extent as he fights of the perpetrators after urging Bruce and Cat to run (You go, Alfred!). They obey and end up in the streets where Cat takes Bruce to a place well-known to street kids. Here, Cat runs in to an old friend by the name of Ivy and sources reveal that this girl is intended to be the fetus villain Poison Ivy. She doesn't say much but in the words of Cat, "She's scary." After going through the motions, Bruce and Cat find themselves trapped in a building being hunted, in a sense, by the hit men and luckily Cat manages to escape. Bruce is left to fend for himself but he had no need to worry because he was not part of the "contract". I wonder who signed it. Soon after, Alfred shows up and he and Bruce have a heartwarming hug.

Lovecraft is (or was, considering that he's now deceased) the name of the man assumed to be behind the Wayne murders. Because Cat witnessed the murder, Gordon believed these hit men were sent by him leading him to confront Lovecraft in his home. His claims are questioned when he finds Lovecraft cowering in his room, gun at the ready, claiming that the same people were coming after him. Lo and behold, seconds later, the lead woman and her entourage bust in the house. Gordon tries to fight them off but is knocked out and when he comes to, there is a surprise for him in the bathroom. Lovecraft in the tub with a bullet hole smack in the middle of his forehead and Gordon's gun on the floor.

The mayor dubs this murder a suicide, no doubt to save himself from any trouble the murder would cause him. Naturally, the mayor blames Gordon for everything because he's a class A douchebag. In the end, Gordon gets reassigned to work at Arkham and that, to say the least, is going to be interesting.

All You Need Are Lies, Moles and a little bit of Murder

Batman is one of the most iconic superheroes of all time. He is a man underneath a mask to be a symbol of hope to the people living in a city where that is rather difficult to find. Everyone knows the story of Bruce Wayne, his eventual ascent to the Batman and all the encounters after that but the years before the city was blessed with their night-time guardian angel are a mystery. FOX has decided to solve that mystery for us with their own innovative interpretation.

Gotham, the city which gave this new FOX television show its name, is perpetually demolished and devoured by the mob lords and servile companions that terrorize its streets with their organized criminal agendas. If there is any place that is in dire need of some salvation, it's this city. In this show, Detective James Gordon has taken up that responsibility being just as honorable as his character is known for. Being the only honest man in the city, he developed a load of enemies but also managed to acquire his partner's, Harvey Bullock, loyalty and friendship. Gordon is still alive so he must be doing something right.

In the pilot episode, we saw Thomas and Martha Wayne get murdered in front of fetus Bruce and apparently fetus Selina Kyle (Catwoman) witnessed the whole thing. Throughout the episodes so far, some familiar characters have made their appearance including Alfred Pennyworth, Oswald Cobblepot (Penguin), Falcone and very recently Harvey Dent. FOX has further shown the extent of their creativity by throwing in some new characters, such as Fish Mooney and can I just say that she is my favorite character so far. You can't go wrong with Jada Pinkett Smith. Speaking of the actors, the producers knew what they were doing. All of them portray their characters exceptionally well. Plus, it's interesting to see all these heroes and villains before they were heroes and villains.

With regards to the plot, there are already many twists and turns of deception, there are plots of revenge and plots of usurpation. There are, in the words of Penguin, "rivers of blood in the streets". Gotham is overflowing with dirty cops who make deals with the mob and turn the other cheek to the illegal activities. Two mobs especially, one lead by Falcone, the other by Maroni, have complete power over entire districts. On the radar, these mobs have agreed to have a peaceful alliance but under the radar...well you can guess it's not all unicorns and rainbows.

Gotham was a show that could have either been really horrible or really amazing and it appears to be headed in the latter direction. I admit, there are some slow moments but overall, it has a captivating plot with enough conflicts that make you want to know what's going to happen next. At this point, I would rate it 4/5 stars. Now you can either take my word for it and start watching this great show or you can just not. Either way, it matters not to me. If you already do watch, I'd love to know what you think about it. Leave your two cents in the comments below.

Peace love and crime fighting! x

Bolt Vs. Bow

Oh my lanta that was amazing. I literally cannot even process my feelings right now. What even is life. Dude. *Currently reveling in the after effects of the awesomeness that was Flash vs. Arrow: Part 1* Ugh, my heart. I'm just too happy at the moment.

I don't even know where to start. After Oliver showed up, it was literally greatness from start to finish. Joe and Dr. Wells called Barry in like they were about to put him in time out which was pretty hilarious. After witnessing Barry's speed, Diggle looked like he just saw a dead person come back to life. Indeed, also pretty hilarious. This episode was just chock full of laugh out louds.

"Do you think he does everything fast? How long do you think it takes for him to go to the bathroom after he eats something?" - John Diggle

Oliver: We can talk about your silly codenames later.
Barry: You mean like over coffee? With Deathstroke and Huntress?

Aside from the usual plot revelations, everyone in Star Labs, as well as Joe, now know that Oliver Queen = The Arrow. Apparently Dr. Wells does not comprehend the definition of the word secret. After asking Felicity to reveal Olly's secret and not receiving the answer he foolishly hoped for, he felt perfectly compelled to become Sherlock Holmes, find out who The Arrow really is and proceeded to blurt it out in front the whole Star Labs crew because yea...we're doing that now. I'm hoping and bluntly assuming that none of them are going to give up his identity.

Dude. With regards to the showdown...it was a tie! Although I am still quite curious as to who would win, I like the result better this way. When I first heard about the crossover, I thought What would cause Flash and Arrow to battle it out with each other? My nerves went on alert because they're not supposed to be enemies. Then I saw the trailer and my soul was relieved to see that they simply wanted to find out who would win in a fight. Alas, of course, I was once again mistaken. It was no play fight. Barry got "whammed" by Ray Bivolo, Rainbow Raider (get a load of that name), a metahuman that can change the emotions of others by flashing a light frequency into their eyes. As a result, he became extremely angry and lashed out at everyone, especially Oliver. He really ripped him a new one before, you know, trying to physically rip him apart as well. Just as I said though, both Arrow and Flash were holding down their own in this fight and what an epic fight that was! Flash was such as boss. Honestly, if you don't plan on watching either of these shows at all, just watch this one episode. That's all I ask and it would be so worth it because who does not love a good fight, be honest with yourselves.

Also while Flash was under the influence, he attacked Eddie and now Eddie is set on arresting him. Iris seems to be backing him up, much to Barry's dismay. This is where Eddie starts despising Flash and they are most likely going to face off one day.

The collaboration worked out really well in my opinion. Producers said there is not going to be another one for a while but I am already anticipating its arrival. Barry and Oliver have an adorable friendship which was solidified in this episode. Oliver took it upon himself to coach Barry in the ways of vigilantism and supposedly they took down Rainbow Raider. I only say supposedly because my television decided to skip. I do not know how or why but I have no idea how they managed to overcome him or if that scene was even in the show. I am upset but I'll just have to watch it again to confirm. Not that that's a bad thing. :)

Towards the end of the episode, the girl Oliver impregnated a while back appeared in Central City. She seems harmless but it's obvious we are going to meet Oliver's child soon.

Final Scene: FIRESTORM! ASDFGHJKL;! I've been waiting for this ever since the Captain Cold episode. Bonus: He's played by Stephen Amell 's (Arrow) cousin. Everything is perfect.

See you tomorrow for Part 2!

Update: So it was not my TV's fault. The episode actually did not show the defeat and capture of Rainbow Raider which makes me even more upset. Why didn't they think that was necessary to actually see Flash and Arrow fighting together. This collaboration was hardly a collab at all. All Oliver did was give Barry a name and they did not do anything together after that except fight each other. Kind of disappointed.

TRAILER TALK: Flash Vs. Arrow!

The crossover of the year. The one we've all been waiting for. FLASH vs. ARROW airs on Tuesday and I am way too excited! It's going to be a two-part episode with Flash preceding Arrow. From the trailer, we see that Oliver and Barry team up to track down this meta-human (although Oliver refuses to call him by such), whose power is still unknown to viewers.

Oliver and Barry clearly have different tactics for taking down evil doers. Barry prefers to talk things out, dodge attacks and stick to the basic fist-to-face physical advances while Oliver doesn't hesitate to take more harsh measures in order to force information out of people. Barry's close friends and family figures, especially Dr. Wells (no surprise there), begin to deem Arrow as a bad influence on him. We'll get to see how this collaboration plays out.

Now to address the real climax of the event: the epic superhero showdown! Oliver says to Barry, "Once and for all, who would win: Me or you?" and isn't that the question? The obvious difference that pretty much everyone is going to argue is that Flash has a superpower, Arrow does not. However, Arrow has experience, agility, cleverness and is entirely equipped with fancy shmancy arrows that can explode, tie people up and knock them unconscious. Plus, Flash has his cockiness which might just get him in trouble. I feel as though Barry is just to unfledged at the moment. He's gonna be like, "Yea I'm the fastest man alive, You can't touch me." Whereas Oliver would be over here with his ancient Chinese proverbs and Hitting the water gives you strength. On the opposite side, Flash can easily defect any blow that comes his way. Pair that with his fighting skills and he just might win. The outcome is a tad difficult to predict seeing as Flash and Arrow could both damage each other. However, I'm going to bet on Arrow. No offense, Barry, I still love you. Can't wait to finally find out tomorrow! Asdfghjkl;!

Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving also known as National Day of Mourning for Native Americans. Also, hope none of you contracted food poisoning because that's not fun. Anyways, thanks for reading if you read. Leave answers to the following question and comment if you're as excited about this as I am. Have a great day!

Who do you think would win?
